We’ve just completed a print project for some funky new skateboard chairs. We were provided with four blank ‘skateboard chairs’ and large sections of graffiti like artwork, with rough areas outlined to help identify where the print would fall onto each individual skateboard. As the skateboards were all slightly different in size, not perfectly rounded at each corner, nor straight along the sides, we decided vinyl printing would produce the best outcome. The contour design proved challenging, and we had to draw up various board shape cut files and test it on paper until we had the perfect shape to fit each of the boards.
We used a permanent ‘dry airfree’ vinyl; firstly so we were able to remove any air bubbles that arose and ‘dry’ meaning we could install the vinyl without having to wet the vinyl or the boards. We also applied a textured matte laminate to the printed vinyl to protect the boards against moisture, abrasion and prolong the chairs’ lifespan.
The production process was a combined effort, honing in on the individual skills of our Display team. We even assembled the chairs! And, were incredibly happy with the final project.
