We’re loving working with British luxury watchmakers Struthers London; the Watchmakers share similar values in our approach to design, that employs traditional hand-made techniques to achieve the highest level of finish.
It was earlier in the year, that we first started working with Struthers to produce a leather-bound ledger. The ledger was a bespoke full case leather binding with raised bands on the spine. Printed onto a cotton Timecare Age Compatible paper, the book was hand-sewn in our bindery. The book was rounded and backed, and we used a black goatskin fine leather which was finished with a blind debossing to the front.
More recently, we have produced luxury screw-post bound photo albums. The photo albums will be used as portfolios to document the creative process behind Struthers' hand-built watches. For the covers we used GF Smith Colorplan Smoke and added a clear foil for that finishing touch.
Founded by London watchmaker Craig Struthers and Birmingham antiquarian horologist Rebecca Struthers, the Struthers name represents 'a passion for the support and preservation of dying arts to ensure their continuation in the future of fine British craft.'
Whilst the work we produce for the Watchmakers is being hand-crafted in our in-house Bindery, like-minded Struthers are creating award-winning designs using traditional fine-hand skills in 21st Century watchmaking in their studio in London. And, they have just been featured in the Jewellery Editor alongside Hermès, Ralph Lauren, and Dior for a Diamond watch they were commissioned to make for a client who requested a pair of earrings be transformed into a watch; go check it out - it's beautiful - no.6!
