Sustainable Cover Materials

The first book cloth made from ocean plastic by Winter & Co, TOILE OCEAN has a natural look and refined feel. It is fabric woven from ocean plastic and rPET yarn.

TOILE OCEAN is a fabric that is particularly recommended for book covers, menu cards and stationery items such as notebooks due to its durability. It is also used in the production of hang tags, premium packaging solutions and shopping bags. The exceptional texture conveys the feeling of a textile.

COLOURS

TOILE OCEAN is available in the colours Sky (Ciel), Seaweed (Algue), Red Coral (Corail rouge), Pebble (Galet), Beach (Plage) and Sea Salt (Fleur de sel).

FINISHING TECHNIQUES AND PRINTING PROCESSES

It can printed and finished with foil stamping and debossing.

Due to its durability, TOILE OCEAN is suitable as a sustainable book cover with a strong environmental message. If TOILE OCEAN had been used as a book cloth for the first Harry Potter edition, 75 million plastic bottles could have been recycled from the ocean.

TOILE OCEAN was developed together with the company tide ocean SA, which specialises in the collection and valorisation of ocean plastic in an award-winning upcycling process. The highlight: this fabric is made from plastic waste from the sea, which is compressed into a granulate and spun into a yarn. A coating of water-based acrylic makes it a book cover material.
For every square metre of TOILE OCEAN, over five 0.5l PET bottles are recycled. What's more: for every metre of TOILE OCEAN sold, 1% of the turnover goes to clean water projects.
